Nurse Clinics

The majority of appointments to see our practice nurses are booked in advance.  Currently these appointments are not available for on-line booking.  The nursing team also hold the following clinics by appointment:

• Asthma Clinic
• Diabetic Clinic
• Child Immunisation Clinic
• Hypertension Clinic
• Respiratory Clinic
• Stop Smoking Clinic
• Health Checks by invitation

Also available:

• Flu Vaccination Clinic each year during October
• Designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre

Attached Services

Community Nursing Staff are employed by the Primary Care Trust and are based at the Health Centre. They can be contacted directly on 01823 490778

• Health Visitor can be contacted on 01823 444739
• A Physiotherapist holds a clinic on Thursday mornings
• A Midwife hold an antenatal clinic alternate Wednesday afternoons

 

Non-NHS/Private Services

The doctors are independent contractors who have a contract with Somerset Primary Care Trust to provide for the medical care of patients under the National Health Service.

Services not included in the GMS Contract may be provided on a private basis with an appropriate fee charged as follows:

• Certificate and Forms
• Medical Examinations and Reports
• Access to Records (Under Data Protection Act)
• Blood Tests (excluding Pathology Laboratory Fees)

Travel Vaccinations

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements.  This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required. 

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible  - at least 6 weeks before you travel* - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations.  These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine.  Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

* NB - Patients should be aware that they may be asked to attend an alternative travel vaccination clinic elsewhere if their travel plans are sooner than the requested six weeks.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.  This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.  Vaccinations will not be administered before payment is received in full.  Once your travel questionnaire has been received and reviewed by the nursing team, a receptionist will contact you with an invoice total and to arrange the appointment.  The Travel Vaccination Clinic is a service not provided by the NHS and may incur a fee if you access the service and decide to have your vaccinations elsewhere.
