Patients should not therefore expect their medication to be ready for
collection from the surgery before two working days have elapsed following
their request.
(Please remember that the dispensary is closed on Saturdays, Sundays
and Bank Holidays).
This means, if a repeat prescription is ordered on Friday afternoon
the medication will be ready on Tuesday.
Although prescriptions may be printed shortly after the request is
received, each prescription is scrutinised and signed by a doctor.
This is why it cannot be guaranteed that a prescription will be ready
in less than 48 hours.
Whenever
possible patients should use the repeat medication slip on ordering
the next one or order On-Line rather than using the repeat prescription
answerphone. These are the most efficient and accurate way of ordering
repeat prescriptions and will ensure that errors are kept to a minimum.
Remember
- the items listed on the repeat medication slip are the only items
available as a repeat request. Any other items have to be authorised
by a doctor. This may therefore take longer and may mean that two prescriptions
need to be issued rather than one.
When
ordering a repeat prescription the boxes next to the required items
should be ticked. This list can then be posted to the surgery, handed
in at reception or left in the box on the reception desk.
Once
they have been issued, medication can be collected direct from the dispensary
