I was born and brought up in Somerset, and went to nearby Huish Episcopi Comprehensive School (as it was then) and Strode College, only leaving the area to study at medical school. I qualified in 2007 from Barts and the London Medical School, which is the medical school formed from the merger of the Royal London Hospital (the oldest medical school in England) and St Bartholomew’s Hospital (the oldest hospital in the UK). Since qualification, I have done much of my post-graduate training within the Taunton and Yeovil Hospitals.

Outside of medicine, my main interest is beekeeping. I also enjoy walking, although regrettably, don't seem to find time to do as much as I would like!

Locum Doctors

During the absence of a doctor, his appointments are carried out by our remaining doctors or during holiday or professional leave, a locum may be employed.

The Practice Manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care. 

If you have any concerns about the care you have received or if you any any suggestions relating to improving patient services, please contact the Practice Manager.

The secretary deals with correspondence relating to patient care, including referrals to hospitals and other agencies.  If you have received documentation relating to your referral and require further advice, please contact the Practice and ask to speak to the secretary.

These staff are employed by the Somerset Partnership rather than the Practice but are based at the health centre and work in conjunction with the doctors and practice nurses. They also provide services for the patients of Creech Medical Centre.

The Community (district) Nurses provide nursing support for those patients who are unable to attend the health centre. The Community Nurse Team Leader, Mrs Pain also acts as an assessor for Social Services and can advise on care needs and support required in the home.

Physiotherapist

A physiotherapist holds a weekly clinic at the practice for patients referred by the doctors.

Dietician

A dietician holds a monthly clinic for patients referred by a doctor or a practice nurse

Mrs Gillian Gibson is a Podiatrist and Registered Nurse providing all foot related healthcare and surgery to private clients on Wednesday afternoons.

Carolyn Penman is a private practitioner who provides a deeper, therapeutic massage with advice on nutrition and diet for overall health and wellbeing aiming to bring affordably good massage to those who are seeking a firmer, 'deeper tissue' body massage.

Senior Dispenser

We are a dispensing practice which means that if you live a mile or more from the nearest pharmacy (as the crow flies) you can get your prescribed medicine at the Health Centre.  Unfortunately, we are not permitted to sell over the counter medicines or dispense to our patients who happen to live within a mile of a pharmacy.

We run a computerised prescription and dispensing system.  If the Doctor prescribes for you during a consultation, our trained dispensers will make up your prescription ready for you to collect before you leave the Health Centre.

You will be asked to sign the back of the prescription and either pay for the items or state the reason for exemption from charges. Except for age exemption, we are required to see evidence of exemption every time.  If you do not have the required evidence with you, we have to mark the form to say that we have not seen the evidence for exemption.
